Corrosion resistance: 904L stainless steel strip has a high degree of resistance to a variety of corrosive media. In particular, it is highly resistant to chloride gap corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. It almost does not appear corrosion spots and cracks, pitting resistance is better than other steel. In addition, it has excellent corrosion resistance in dilute sulfuric acid. The strip can also withstand acetic acid at any concentration and at any temperature.

Mechanical properties: This stainless steel strip has excellent mechanical properties. At room temperature, its tensile strength can reach more than 520 MPa. Its yield strength is about 216 N/mm² (some sources indicate 490 N/mm²), and the elongation is greater than 35%.

Processing and welding performance: It has good processability and weldability. It can be formed and processed by conventional metalworking processes. In terms of welding, this stainless steel strip is suitable for a variety of welding methods, such as manual arc welding, submerged arc welding, TIG welding, MIG welding, etc. However, workers need to choose the welding material that matches the base material and strictly control the welding parameters. This ensures the quality and performance of the welded joint.

Operation Precautions

Surface quality control: Before or during heat treatment, workers should thoroughly clean the surface of the 904L stainless steel strip. This removes impurities such as oil, rust and oxides. The quality of the surface cleaning will directly affect the effect of the subsequent pickling process, and then affect the surface finish and uniformity of the product.

Welding preparation: Before welding, workers need to thoroughly clean the welding area. And may require preheating treatment depending on the thickness and size of the material to reduce welding stress and crack generation. At the same time, the welding material that matches the stainless steel strip should be selected, and the welding parameters should be strictly controlled. This allows for the best welding results.

Processing precautions: Due to its high alloy content, the cold work hardening rate may be faster. Therefore, the factory may need to take special measures during the processing. Such as adjusting the processing speed, using the appropriate coolant and so on. This prevents over-hardening and cracking of the material.

Storage and transportation: During storage and transportation, mechanical damage and corrosion of the steel strip should be avoided. The factory should store it in a dry, ventilated, non-corrosive gas environment, and avoid direct contact with harmful substances. Measures should be taken to prevent vibration and shock during transportation. This ensures the integrity and quality of the product.
