Q245R and Q345R are excellent carbon steel plates for pressure vessels. The choice of them mainly depends on the specific application scenario and requirements. 1.Performance of Q245R

(1) Chemical composition: The chemical composition of Q245R mainly includes C (≤0.20%), Si (≤0.35%), Mn (0.50% ~ 1.00%), P (≤0.025%) and S (≤0.010%) and other elements.

(2) Mechanical properties: The tensile strength and yield strength of Q245R vary with the thickness of the steel plate. Generally, the tensile strength of the steel plate with a thickness of 3 ~ 16mm is 400 ~ 520MPa. The yield strength is ≥245MPa, and the elongation is ≥25%.

(3) Weldability: Q245R has good weldability and low carbon equivalent (Ceq=0.37%). It is suitable for use in wet H2S stress corrosion environment.

(4) Corrosion resistance: Q245R after special smelting and rolling process treatment, showing good corrosion resistance, can run stably in harsh working environment for a long time.

2.Performance of Q345R

(1) Chemical composition: The chemical composition of Q345R mainly includes C (≤0.20%), Si (≤0.55%), Mn (1.20% ~ 1.70%), P (≤0.025%) and S (≤0.010%) and other elements.

(2) Mechanical properties: The yield strength of Q345R varies according to thickness. For example, when ≤16mm, the yield strength is ≥345MPa, the tensile strength is between 470 and 640MPa, and the elongation is ≥21%. The steel plate has good impact toughness and high temperature mechanical properties.

(3) Weldability: Q345R has a higher carbon equivalent (Ceq=0.47%), is more likely to crack during welding, notch sensitivity is larger, fatigue strength is lower, and weldability is not as good as Q245R in some cases.

(4) Corrosion resistance: Q345R also has some corrosion resistance, but in some specific corrosive environments, its performance may not be as good as Q245R.
