Heat Treatment Process Of 4Cr13MoV Tool Steel

1. Pretreatment of 4Cr13MoV Tool Steel

Annealing treatment: used to eliminate internal stress, improve cutting performance, and prepare for subsequent machining and heat treatment. The heating temperature is about 800°C to 900°C, and the holding time is determined according to the thickness and size of the material, usually 1 to 2 hours.

Pickling: eliminate the surface oxide layer, improve the surface quality of the material.

2. Heat up

The material is heated to an appropriate temperature, usually between 900°C and 1100°C, to ensure that the material has good plasticity and is ready for hot working or quenching treatment.

3. Heat treatment process

Quenching treatment:

Heating temperature: about 1000°C to 1050°C.

Insulation time: according to the thickness and size of the material to determine, usually 1~2 hours.

Cooling method: Oil cooling is usually used to ensure the acquisition of martensitic tissue, resulting in increased hardness and strength.

Tempering treatment:

Heating temperature: about 200°C to 400°C.

Insulation time: according to the thickness and size of the material to determine, usually 1~2 hours.

Cooling mode: can be slow to reduce internal stress, while retaining a certain hardness.
