AISI D2 1.2379 Tool Steel | ISO 9001 Quality Assurance

Product Details

1.Product Introduction Of D2 1.2379 Tool Steel

AISI D2 1.2379 tool steel is a kind of cold work die steel with high carbon and chromium. It has excellent wear resistance, hardenability and heat strength. It can produce cold working molds with low impact load and high wear resistance. Such as punching concave die, cutting die, rolling wheel, rubbing wire plate, cold stamping die, drawing die, etc. The chemical composition of this steel is high in carbon and chromium, which gives it good hardness and corrosion resistance.

After heat treatment, its hardness can reach 60-64HRC, with extremely high wear resistance and deformation resistance. At the same time, the heat treatment deformation is small, the quenching temperature range is wide, the hardness is uniform after quenching, and the structure stability is good. These characteristics make this tool steel widely used in the field of die making.

Operating Guide For D2 1.2379 Tool Steel

1. Heat treatment operation:

Quenching: D2 1.2379 tool steel is heated to 1000-1050℃, and cooled to room temperature quickly after sufficient time of insulation. The quenching medium is usually oil or brine.

Tempering: After quenching, workers will heat the steel to 150-200 ° C for tempering to improve its toughness and cracking resistance. Tempering time should be adjusted according to specific requirements and steel thickness.

2. Machining operation:

Before machining, the factory should ensure that the steel has been fully annealed to reduce hardness and facilitate cutting.

Machining with appropriate tools and cutting parameters to avoid excessive wear and tool damage.

Pay attention to cooling during machining to prevent overheating of the tool and deformation of the workpiece.

3. Welding operation:

Preheating is required before welding.

Select appropriate welding materials and welding methods to ensure weld quality and strength.

After welding, the worker should carry out appropriate heat treatment to eliminate welding stress and improve the toughness of the weld.

4. Surface treatment operation:

IBC Group can perform surface treatments such as polishing and sandblasting to improve the finish and aesthetics of the workpiece surface.

According to the need, we can carry out nitriding, carburizing and other surface strengthening treatment, to improve the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the workpiece.
