What is Equivalent to Q235 Steel?

Q235 steel is called ordinary carbon structural steel, and some factory masters like to call it A3 steel! Q represents the yield limit of this material, 235 refers to the yield strength value of this material, its yield strength is about 235MPa. Generally speaking, with the increase of the thickness of the material, the yield value decreases, such as the plate thickness/diameter ≤16mm, the yield strength is 235MPa, if the plate thickness/diameter is 16mm~40mm, the yield strength will be slightly lower, becoming about 225MPa, and so on.

Steel Properties

1. Good plasticity and weldability: Because Q235 steel is a low carbon steel, it has good plasticity and weldability, which makes it easy to process into a variety of shapes and suitable for a variety of complex manufacturing processes.

2. Good mechanical properties: Its mechanical properties such as tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and other indicators are in line with the standard requirements. This allows it to provide stable performance in a variety of application scenarios.

3. Weak corrosion resistance: it has a relatively high carbon content, so its corrosion resistance is relatively weak, easy to receive acid, alkali and other chemical substances erosion. This requires additional anti-corrosion treatment in some special environments.

Classification of Q235 Steel

Q235 steel points A, B, C, D four grades, what is the difference between the four grades? There are the following differences.

1. The chemical composition of the four grades is different. Their content in C, Mn, S and P elements is slightly different, for example, the content of S and P elements in C and D is lower than that in A and B.

2. The deoxidation method is different. The deoxidation methods of A and B are F, b, Z, C is Z, D is TZ (F boiling steel, b semi-boiling steel, Z killed steel, TZ special killed steel).

3. Different requirements for impact tests. A does not do impact test, B does normal temperature impact test, C does 0℃ impact test, D does -20℃ impact test.

Applications

1. Construction field: Manufacture building structures, Bridges, tunnels, towers and other buildings.

2. Machinery manufacturing field: manufacturing all kinds of machinery and equipment, such as tools, molds, etc.

3. Aerospace field: Manufacturing aircraft, missiles, satellites and other aerospace products.

4. Automobile manufacturing field: manufacturing automobile chassis, frame, body and other components.

5. Petrochemical field: manufacturing oil and gas pipelines.

In summary, Q235 steel, as an important structural steel, still has broad application prospects in the future development. But at the same time, we also need to pay attention to changes in factors such as market demand, technological progress and environmental protection policies to cope with possible challenges and opportunities.
