Supplier & Exporter of BS1387 Hot Galvanized Steel Pipe
IBC Metal Group is a supplier & exporter of BS1387 hot galvanized steel pipe. We have wide supply range of galvanized steel pipe. It is suitable for threading widely used for gas, air and water transmission, civil and other structures purposes. BS 1387 another way described as EN 10255. A British standard for welded black pipes for screwing to BS21 pipe threads. BS1387 hot galvanized steel pipe which nominal size DN8-DN150 in light, medium and heavy thickness.
Specification of BS1387 Hot Galvanized Steel Pipe
- Standard:BS 1387 (EN 10255)
- Thickness class:light A,medium B,heavy C
- OD:21.4mm-508.0mm
- WT:2.0mm-7.9mm
What is BS1387 pipe?
BS1387:1985 is a classic ERW steel tube specification with Light, Medium & Heavy series. It is suitable for water lines (cold & hot), firefighting pipeline, HVAC lines. And tubes can be also supplied threaded according to BS 21 (ISO 7-1).
Tolerance
a) On Thickness Light Tubes = + Not Limited, – 8%. Medium & Heavy tubes = + Not Limited , -10%
b) On Mass for quantities of 150 Mtr., and over of one size =+/- 4%, for single tube =+10% / -8%.
Pipe End
Cut cleanly and nominally square with the axis of the tube and free from excessive burrs.
Bend Test (Cold)
Applicable to tubes up to and including the nominal size of 50mm. a) For black tubes bend up to 180 degrees around a cylindrical mandrel, the Dia of which is 6 times the OD of pipe. b) For Galvanized pipe bend up to 90 degrees around a cylindrical mandrel, the dia of which is 8 times the OD of pipe. Tubes shall withstand the test without showing any signs of fracture or failure.
Flattening Test
Applicable to tubes greater than the nominal size of 50mm. a) For weld: Distance between the platens, measured under load is not greater than 75% of the OD of the tube. b) For Material: Distance between the platens, measured under load is not greater than 60% of the OD of the tube.

Conclusions
Galvanized steel pipe, also known as GI steel pipe, can classified into two kinds. One is hot dipped galvanized steel pipe, the other is electric steel pipe. IBC could supply all kinds of galvanized pipe with high quality & competitive price.
Advantage of hot dipped galvanized steel pipe is that the galvanized coating will be thicker, and the zinc coating will be fairly and can stick to the pipe body better. And life span of hot dipped galvanized steel pipe is longer. For electric steel pipe, the cost will be cheaper than hot dipped galvanized steel pipe, but it also has its disadvantage. The surface of the electric steel pipe is not smooth. And its anti-corrosion function is not as good as hot dipped galvanized steel pipe.
In order to approve steel pipe’s quality and extend its life span, galvanized steel pipe is widely used in our daily life. We can see that GI steel pipe is widely used for transport gas, heat, water pipe, and for construction usage. And most of scaffolding are GI steel pipe.
