Chemical Composition of ASME SA203
The steel shall conform to the chemical requirements shown in Table 1 unless otherwise modified in accordance with Supplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon- Deoxidized Steel. Especially in Specification A 20/A 20M.
Tensile Requirements
The material as represented by the tension test specimens shall conform to the requirements shown in Table 2 below. For plates that have been heat treated in accordance with 5.1.1.1 or 5.1.2 and have a nominal thickness of 3⁄4 in. [20 mm] and under, the 11⁄2-in. (40-mm) wide rectangular specimen may be used for the tension test, and the elongation may be determined in a 2-in. [50-mm] gage length that includes the fracture and that shows the greatest elongation. When this specimen used, the elongation shall be not less than 23 %.
Specification A20/A20M shall be followed when supplying material to this specification. Test methods and procedures, permissible changes in dimensions and mass, quality and the repair of imperfections, marking, loading, and so on are included in these requirements. Specification A20/A20M also establishes the rules for the basis of purchase that must be followed when purchasing material to this specification.
