ASME SA299 Pressure Vessel Plate Chemical Composition
The steel shall conform to the requirements given in Table 1 unless otherwise modified in accordance with Supplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon-Deoxidized Steel, in Specification A 20/A 20M.
Mechanical Properties for ASME SA299 Pressure Vessel Plate
Tension Test Requirements — The plates, as represented by the tension test specimens, shall conform to the requirements given in Table 2.
Heat Treatment
ASME SA299 Gr.A plates 2 inch [50mm] and under in thickness are normally supplied in the as-rolled condition. Plates ordered normalized or stress relieved, or both. ASME SA299 Gr.A steel plates products over 2 inch [50mm] in thickness shall be normalized.

Technical Conditions
According to ASTM A299/A299M standard, steel plate A299 Grade A and A299 Grade B shall be choose in the following technical conditions:

- S2. Product analysis;
- S3. Simulated post weld heat treatment of mechanical test coupons;
- S4. Additional tension test;
- S5. Charpy V-notch impact test;
- S6. Drop weight test, S7. High temperature tension test.
Application
ASME SA299 steel widely used for producing pressure and boiler equipment. Plates of this standard under 50 mm thickness commonly supplied in an as-rolled condition.
